A phased migration of on-premises applications and infrastructure to a cloud-native architecture for an energy sector organization.

Challenge

An energy sector organization maintained critical applications on aging on-premises servers with limited disaster recovery capabilities. Hardware refresh cycles were costly, scaling required lengthy procurement processes, and remote access for field teams was unreliable.

Approach

We developed a phased cloud migration roadmap prioritizing applications by business criticality and migration complexity. Infrastructure was provisioned using infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines were established for automated deployments, and a hybrid connectivity model maintained secure links to remaining on-premises systems during transition. Monitoring, alerting, and backup policies were configured to meet the organization's operational requirements.

Outcome

Fourteen applications were migrated to cloud infrastructure within the planned timeline with zero unplanned downtime during cutover. Infrastructure costs decreased by 25% compared to the previous hardware refresh cycle, and disaster recovery recovery time objectives improved from days to hours.
